MP3-CD à Problem melden Kindle Ë problem book, melden mobile, Problem melden KindleI wanted to read this book to compare versions to that of Jon Krakauer You can easily appreciate that the writer is not as good as Krakauer At the end of the book it gets tiring as the author continues to repeat again and again the same arguments All in all it is worth reading for comparison purposes and it is in any case nice to read about such a fantastic athlete as Anatoli Boukreev was

MP3-CD à Problem melden Kindle Ë problem book, melden mobile, Problem melden KindleThis is the story about the 1996 Everest tragedy told from the perspective of Anatoli Boukreev who was one of the guides on the ill fated Mountain Madness expedition led by Scott Fischer It is written almost as a rebuttal to the perceived criticism by Jon Krakauer author of Into Thin Air of Boukreev's actions on that ill fated Everest climbThis is a poorly written account which is oftentimes confusing It has none of the clarity of prose found in Krakauer's Into Thin Air It is however an important chronicle from someone who was there on Everest and who had a pivotal role in the tragic events Boukreev provides an insider's view of the Mountain Madness expedition itself and of the preparations which go into such a journey It is packed with many interesting details which will delight Everest junkiesWhether Boukreev's actions on the mountain were irresponsible in that he did not use supplementary oxygen to summit and immediately retu

MP3-CD à Problem melden Kindle Ë problem book, melden mobile, Problem melden KindleFor those who aren’t aware the background to this book is the deaths of 5 people on Everest in 1996 Obviously an awful day but it probably wouldn’t have been remembered if it wasn’t for the fact that a journalist Jon Krakauer was present who wrote a book about the events – after all three other people died on Everest on the same day and they’re pretty much forgottenJK’s book placed the blame pretty squarely at the doors of the two expedition leaders But the book was so successful because JK was pretty good at making the characters involved come alive Which makes the book interesting but of course runs the risk that some people may not like t

MP3-CD à Problem melden Kindle Ë problem book, melden mobile, Problem melden KindleIt is essential to read this alongside or before or after Jon Krakauer's book to give a broader picture of the events of 1996 although I have learnt most about the mistakes made from Kasischke's 'After the Wind' there is a prolonged effort to answer Krakauer's criticisms and fair enough I would if I thought I had a legitimate beef and if all the slanging leaves you cold you don't have to re

MP3-CD à Problem melden Kindle Ë problem book, melden mobile, Problem melden KindleAs with a lot of other reviewers I read 'the Climb' in conjunction with Krakauer's 'Into Thin Air' about the tale of one of Everest's most deadly seasons This book takes a different perspective from the Mountain Madness expedition and from a guide rather than a client This is a tale of heroic efforts from a man not trying to be a hero just trying to do his job as a man a friend and a guide The amazing thing to me is Anatoli Boukreev's stamina and strength at high altitude along with his determination which man

MP3-CD à Problem melden Kindle Ë problem book, melden mobile, Problem melden KindleI put off reading The Climb expecting yet childish trading of insults between Jon Krakauer and Anatoli Boukreev over ‘who did what’ up there in the Everest Death Zone in May 1996 Reading Into Thin Air the actions of Boukreev – a side player at best – had no bearing on the overall design of that disastrous day So he made a rapid descent to his tent at Camp IV rather than hang around? So he climbed without supplemental oxygen? So what? Krakauer decided to make an issue out of it and so the whole childish spat began demeaning Into Thin Air in my opinion But curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to read Boukr
